Brendan P Kelso: Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet for Kids

Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet for Kids

Description

Romeo & Juliet like you have never read it before; quick, fun, and easy to understand. Designed for 6-18+ actors, kids of all ages, or anyone who wants to enjoy and loosely understand Shakespeare's play. What you will get: Fun! 3 melodramatic modifications for group sizes: 6-11 9-13 14-18+ Actual lines from Shakespeare's play mixed in Creatively funny interpretations of the play A delightfully hilarious rendition that is easy for ADULTS to understand too! A kid who loves Shakespeare! This mini-melodramatic masterpiece is sure to be a doorway for your child to love all the classics. Shakespeare is difficult enough in class or watching on stage, let alone trying to teach the stories to children, but as the author's mantra states in the book, "there is no better way to learn than to have fun!" Kids who have read this have also eventually purchased the entire Shakespeare works, and have completed 'hero' reports on Shakespeare at school. Guaranteed to have you coming back for more!

His innovative thriller, as shocking now as when it was first published, the Penguin Classics edition of Robert Louis Stevenson's The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde and Other Tales of Terror is edited with an introduction by Robert Mighall. Published as a 'shilling shocker', Robert Louis Stevenson's dark psychological fantasy gave birth to the idea of the split personality. The story of respectable Dr Jekyll's strange association with the 'damnable young man' Edward Hyde; the hunt through fog-bound London for a killer; and the final revelation of Hyde's true identity is a chilling exploration of humanity's basest capacity for evil. The other stories in this volume also testify to Stevenson's inventiveness within the Gothic tradition: 'Olalla', a tale of vampirism and tainted family blood, and 'The Body Snatcher', a gruesome fictionalisation of the Bamboo Blade: v. 4 free ebook exploits of the notorious Burke and Hare. This edition contains a critical introduction by Robert Mighall, which discusses class, criminality and the significance of the story's London setting. It also includes an essay on the scientific contexts of the novel and the development of the idea of the Jekyll-and-Hyde personality.

Diana Gabaldon: A Breath of Snow and Ashes

A Breath of Snow and Ashes

Description

Eagerly anticipated by her legions of fans, this sixth novel in Diana Gabaldon s bestselling Outlander saga is a masterpiece of historical fiction from one of the most popular authors of our time. Since the initial publication of Outlander fifteen years ago, Diana Gabaldon s "New York Times" bestselling saga has won the hearts of readers the world over and sold more than twelve million books. Now, A Breath of Snow and Ashes continues the extraordinary story of 18th-century Scotsman Jamie Fraser and his 20th-century wife, Claire. The year is 1772, and on the eve of the American Revolution, the long fuse of rebellion has already been lit. Men lie dead in the streets of Boston, and in the backwoods of North Carolina, isolated cabins burn in the forest. With chaos brewing, the governor calls upon Jamie Fraser to unite the backcountry and safeguard the colony for King and Crown. But from his wife Jamie knows that three years hence the shot heard round the world will be fired, and the result will be independence with those loyal to the King either dead or in exile. And there is also the matter of a tiny clipping from "The Wilmington Gazette," dated 1776, which reports Jamie s death, along with his kin. For once, he hopes, his time-traveling family may be wrong about the future."

Mark Sanborn met his postman, Fred, just after he moved to Denver. Fred knocked on his door, introduced himself and welcomed him to the neighbourhood. He also asked Sanborn about himself and how he wanted his mail handled while he was away. Needless to say, Sanborn was shocked. He asked Fred more about his job and how he approached it. Fred's answers inspired him to develop motivational seminars promoting Fred's attitude and approach to life. To embody A Breath of Snow and Ashes ebook pdf the Fred philosophy is to realise and practise that: * Everyone can make a difference * Success is built on good relationships * You must continually create value for others and it doesn't have to cost anything * You can reinvent yourself whenever you want. In this succinct and inspiring guide, Sanborn shows us how we can all truly make a difference everyday and become a 'Fred', as well as how to recognise, reward and attract Freds into our lives.

Jimmy Bullard: Bend it Like Bullard

Bend it Like Bullard

Description

A rip-roaring, life-enhancing, hilarious memoir from a football cult hero; very much in the same vein as recent bestsellers from Paul Merson and Jeff Stelling. Jimmy Bullard may not have had the perfect hair-do, his Granada Ghia may not have been the flashiest of cars, and he definitely didn't have a string of Page 3 girls trying to sell kiss and tell stories about him to the tabloids. But what he has in spades is a genuine love for The Beautiful Game that few of his peers can match. One of the last graduates from football's old school, Jimmy actually worked in the real world - including as a painter and decorator - before turning pro. Maybe that's why he played football with a smile on his face, always says what's on his mind, and is no stranger to a spot of mischief. Having played under the likes of Barry Fry, Harry Redknapp and Phil Brown, appeared alongside names as diverse as Neil Ruddock and Paolo di Canio, and as long as Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink, Jimmy has racked up an amazing collection of tales and pranks both on and off the football front-line. Told with candour, Bend It Like Bullard is the extraordinary story of his journey from cable TV fitter to cult hero. It will make you smile, chuckle and, occasionally, ROFL.

I know what you're thinking-what the hell did you do this time? Relax. Let's not judge, or call for my castration, until you've heard the whole story. Kaffe Fassett: Dreaming in Color: An Autobiography download PDF

Kaffe Fassett: Kaffe Fassett: Dreaming in Color: An Autobiography

Kaffe Fassett: Dreaming in Color: An Autobiography

Description

Kaffe Fassett has led an extraordinary life and is a captivating storyteller with a vivid memory. Born in 1937, he spent much of his youth in Big Sur, California, where his parents bought a cabin from Orson Welles and transformed it into the world-famous Nepenthe restaurant, a gathering place for artists and bohemians. After attending a boarding school run by the disciples of Krishnamurti, an Indian guru, he studied painting at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, then traveled to England, where he made his home. After an inspiring trip to Inverness, Scotland, Fassett began designing knitwear for Bill Gibb, and then the Missonis, "Vogue" magazine, and private clients like Lauren Bacall and Barbra Streisand, and, in the process, revolutionized the handknitting world with his explosive use of color. Further explorations led him to needlepoint, mosaics, rugmaking, tapestries, yarn and fabric design, costume and set design, and quilting. Now in his seventies, Fassett continues to produce new work and to travel worldwide to teach and lecture. In this intimate autobiography, Fassett shares rich, detailed stories about his lifelong creative journey as well as hundreds of glorious photos taken along the way. Also available from Kaffe Fassett: "Kaffe Fassett's Bold Blooms," "Kaffe Fassett's Simple Shapes Spectacular Quilts," and "Kaffe Fassett's Quilts Shots and Stripes." Praise for "Kaffe Fassett: Dreaming in Color: " Kaffe Fassett is to color what Julia Child was to French cooking. "Knitters Review" Lavishly illustrated with photographs from his life and work and dishing on everyone from Dustin Hoffman to Princess Margaret, "Dreaming in Color" describes a charmed life filled with creativity, big personalities, travels and not a little serendipity. "Vogue Knitting" Shapes and patterns are everywhere; they lie waiting for the person who wants to see them. It's the bricolage aspect behind his work and, arguably, Fassett himself: arranging disparate things to create something dynamic and new. "Vogue Knitting" This book would be a beautiful gift to receive or give. It is like finding the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Examiner.com A glance through his new autobiography shows that this is a man who, in design terms, hit the ground running and has never stopped. " Selvedge" magazine " Dreaming in Color," lavishly illustrated with 500 color pictures, is a feast for the eyes. "Shelf Awareness" Reading this book is like peeling an orange on a gray winter s day every single one of your senses is sparked as you get sprayed with infectious creativity. Knitty.com Kaffe Fassett is a luminary in the world of textiles and knitting, spreading the gospel of color in his books and travels. "The Houston Chronicle" It is a beautiful book, no question. Beautifully designed, thoughtfully composed, well-written, Kaffe takes you on his creative journey. We all quilters, knitters, needlepointers, and just plain art lovers are indeed very fortunate that he would share all of this with the world. "Getting Stitched on the Farm" Fassett is a kind of Harrison Ford of the knitting world . "The Washington Post" Kaffe Fassett is a luminary in the world of textiles and knitting, spreading the gospel of color in his books and travels. "The Houston Chronicle" This book is a gorgeous coffee table treasure but it so much more than the vibrant photos, it is a moving and interesting autobiography and I am so glad it has been published. What a treat to read, hold, soak in and enjoy. Susan B. Anderson Brimming over with beautiful eye-candy and intimate details, this colorful book is sure to charm and inspire. "Love of Knitting" magazine"

The first in a page-turning young adult series about a world where flame and ice are mortal enemies--but together create a power that could change everything. Thirteen-year-old Ava Bigtree has lived her entire life at Swamplandia!, her family s island home and gator-wrestling theme park in the Florida Everglades. But when illness fells Ava s mother, the park s indomitable headliner, the family is plunged into chaos; her father withdraws, her sister falls in love with a spooky character known as the Dredgeman, and her brilliant big brother, Kiwi, defects to a rival park called The World of Darkness. As Ava sets out on a mission through the magical swamps to save them all, we are drawn into a lush and bravely imagined debut that takes us to the shimmering edge of reality." Whenever Christa Black looked in the mirror, she was waging a war with herself. Her hatred of her face and body drove her, as a young woman, into Crochet Blocks: 60 Easy-to-Make Motifs & 15 Stunning Projects download ebook pdf frantic overachievement, addiction, and an eating disorder that landed her in rehab. A preacher's kid, she'd grown up imagining God as a "thou shalt not" tyrant. It was only when she miraculously discovered God's unconditional love for her--physical imperfections, moral failings, and all--that she finally began to accept herself. As she tells her story, Christa shares the tools she uses to combat the self-rejection that harms so many people's lives. In this raw testimony, Christa Black takes women on a step-by-step journey of faith and positive belief to reveal that if God loves ugly, then we can too.

Stephen King: Cycle of the Werewolf

Cycle of the Werewolf

Description

The first scream came from the snowbound railwayman who felt the fangs ripping at his throat. The next month there was a scream of ecstatic agony from the woman attacked in her snug bedroom. Now scenes of unbelieving horror come each time the full moon shines on the isolated Maine town of Tarker Mills. No one knows who will be attacked next. But one thing is sure. When the moon grows fat, a paralyzing fear sweeps through Tarker Mills. For snarls that sound like human words can be heard whining through the wind. And all around are the footprints of a monster whose hunger cannot be sated... "Cycle of the Werewolf"
